Vasantha V Kumar
Vasanth is currently responsible for managing the entire IBM Marketing & Communication function in India South Asia in addition to his role as the Brand & Communication Leader. As the Brand & Communications Leader for IBM in India South Asia (ISA), Vasanth leads a team of professionals across the functions of Brand Systems, Digital Marketing, External Relations, Workforce Enablement and Field Enablement supporting the domestic business units, the global delivery units and the research and innovation labs. Vasanth was appointed to this position in March 2010 when he joined IBM and since then has been leading several initiatives including managing the IBM Centennial for India South Asia, overseeing the implementation of the India Brand plan among others. Vasanth joined IBM after a eight year stint in banking as the marketing head at the Royal Bank of Scotland and ABN AMRO Bank in India. During his career spanning marketing, communications, and advertising over more than two decades, Vasanth has contributed to building many global and leading Indian brands including industries ranging from consumer products ( Unilever), retail ( Titan, Tanishq), media & entertainment (Star TV, rediff.com), Automobiles ( Tata Motors) with stints at Lowe Lintas and Young & Rubicam advertising. A graduate from IIM Kolkata, Vasanth lives in Bangalore and is married to Renu, a CSR and sustainability consultant. Away from work, his interests include exploring offbeat places while travelling, enjoying a game of cricket or the latest at the cinemas.
